You might also want to check with the hardware store and see if they can order some in. 

It looks like there is a steel supply company about 20 minutes from you, as well as a couple of welding places.

Sierra Metals looks nice and close to you. You don't want to buy steel from a hardware store, especially special order... you'd pay lots more than if you just go to a specific metals shop.
Also, Trident Welding & Fabricating - but you should call them first to see if the sell it, and have any there. They may even buy their stock from Sierra... so try there first to avoid additional mark-up of the middle man.

There's a Metal Supermakets Inc. very close to where I live too
If it's similar, they'll cut your metal for you to whatever you want, and have a huge selection of most metals.
