Regearing options (possible sticky?)
« on: January 30, 2008, 08:57:56 PM »
I'm looking into some sort of gearing options for my Sidekick, not too interested in r&p's, so I've found a few things:

Calmini has 4.24:1 t-case gears for $850
Trailtough has 4.24:1 gears regular $850, currently on sale for $650
OTT has the Kicker 1 (Sidekick transmission/first half of transfer case to half of a Sammy case) for $600
OTT also has the Kicker 2 (Sidekick transmission to Toyota t-case) for $675
Rocky Road seems to have stopped selling their gears

Is it possible to put a Sammy case behind a 2WD TrackKick transmission? So far that is looking like my best bet if I don't want to spend a huge wad of cash on this beast. I just want to be able to crawl with 31's.

01 Vitara 2.0L 5 speed, 2.5" Calmini lift, 2" body lift, Sidekick rims, locked rear, 31's, 4:1 low, 5.13 diffs <SOLD>

Are the 2wd kick trannys close to the same gear ratios as the sammis?
If they are close I'm sure you could slam a sammi case behind that tranny.
A divorced T-case is definitely nice, that fact that you don't have to re-gear your R&P's

I would like to see how this comes out.

After doing a little research, I would have to say, yes, they do have the same ratios and it is possible to put a Sammy case behind the Kick 2wd tranny. However, it's still kind of tricky cause both are not the easiest to find.
