Hi.
My 1988 Samurai only start if I put a little gas by the carb.
Once it start ,stay in idle and run normal.
What could it be ?

I dont see the choke knob.
But even if the engine is warn has the same problem.

Might be a partially plugged carb.  Not getting enough gas to fire off, but once it is running it works fine?

If it's a Samurai it should have an electric choke.  Someone else will have to verify that though.

I think you need your carb tuned or cleaned up. Have you done alot of mudding? Because 1 little peice of dirt in a jet can cause worlds of problems.

It's either fuel pump, fuel filter, or carb. I don't know how to test your fuel filter, but you should be able to pull the fuel line, and see if fuel is pumping out when the engine's being turned over (don't be an idiot with this and catch yourself on fire). If not, then it's a bad pump or filter for sure. Here's a couple carb cleaning guides:
