roof mount light bar

anyone have any sugestions on where to buy a nice one for a decent price or have any plans to fab one up if i went to a shop? also how do you monut then on a 2 dr soft top? do you just remove that little plastic piece in each corner or???

Just a light bar only, I would fab my own up.You can buy the roof rack from rocky-road.com and then mount roof top lights to that.

Here's what mine looks like... built it myself from 3/4" pipe and anchored it to the windshield pillar like the J***s do
I'll try to get a close up pic of it for you

Hey Sidekick101, here are a couple of better pics of mine.. I run a soft top and bikini top all summer and it goes up and down with no hitting.. hope it helps  8)






I leave the lights loose enough so when I go in the woods, I can lay them down so the don't get ripped off..

thats a badass setup....i've been waiting to build mine....cant do it when its 7 degrees out, i really like the 1/2" tubing....i was going to fab up some brakets to weld onto the pillars and use some square tube for the actual "bar" part...

I had done something similar, but it got ripped off pretty quickly in the woods. For mall crawling it would be perfect, but for actual offroading you would something a little beefier, trust me! LOL!

Hey digger, I've been running this setup for almost 2 yrs and haven't lost a bar yet.. a couple of lights, but that was my fault, not the design.. can't fit a 6'7" truck through a 6'4" hole.. like I said earlier , just leave the lights loose enough so you can lay them flat when running through the trees and they won't come off..

P.S.. I have no and claim to have no patent on this design, so if it works for you , feel free to use anything I have to offer.. enjoy !!   8) 8)

Hey spazzz, that looks awesome. One thing I've been curious about, how much glare do those throw back at you off the hood? My kick is a light color and that has worried me.

Sorry for not replying sooner, from where the lights actually sit, the center 2 are aimed a little farther ahead and the outside 2 are for shorter distance very little light gets bounced back, the bends were done with a small pipe bender, it was pretty easy..also Digger..my rig's been made fun of a few times until they try to follow me !!!it's never been and never will be a mall crawler..I've never had her let me down in the woods where I would have to leave it..broken or not ,and I do mean broken,  it's always gotten me home..



tore my rear control arm out of the frame and tossed a drive shaft out on the trail. turned the rear axle sideways..used my winch cable, run under my rig from front to the axle and pulled it back.. a Sears hammer and a pile of straps to hold it all together and drove it out of the trail another 6-8 kms..tracked like a crab.. LOL

I was just wondering how you wire these things up. I was thinking about getting some additional brighter lights for my deer smasher (AKA grill guard) and couldn't figure out a clean way to wire it up. I have a few ideas, but they're sloppy. Suggestions for how to wire these up?

That deer smasher thing has a story behind it. Maybe I'll start a thread and share.

Hey Dac.. I ran all my wiring to the center in the middle of the pipe and down the center into the top edge of the windshield frame.. removed my rearview mirror so I could fish the wires through the header to the drivers side window frame..down the pillar and directly to my switch and fuse panel.. hope this helps

I guess I just don't get the point of all those lights up there - is it to make the whole county look like noon in the middle of the night?  My headlights have always been plenty for me.  Plus, it would be one more thing for me to rip off the vehicle.

Shoot, if I'm on really gnarly stuff, and I have somebody spotting for me, I turn my headlights OFF, and just have the rock lights under the rig on.  Of course, if it's a full moon, I have been known to drive down the highway with no lights at all...   :o :o :o
