Part of living in the mountains of Colorado, is that you lose about one windshield a year, from rocks on the road.  You don't replace 'em until you REALLY have to, or you would go through TWO per year!

Clarification:  The Calmini instructions say to use a press for one of the steps.  I didn't have one, OR need one.  To install (what was it, a bearing?), I have a tool for seating oil seals that has several different diameter disks, and a handle that screws onto them - I used that and a hammer - no problem.

In Colorado, they don't bother you, unless the crack is obscuring your vision - that is, it's at eye-level, on the driver's side.  I just realized that BOTH my Sidekicks have cracked windshields.  On my 4-door (daily driver), the last time I got a windshield put in, they didn't seal it along the bottom edge, but before I could get it back to them, it already had a crack.  I think the fact that we often have days with a 50 degree swing in temperature makes it worse.
