Gas tank question
« on: April 04, 2005, 12:38:23 PM »
I've got a 1990 Suzuki Sidekick. It's all OEM. The gas tank is rusted out, so I'm getting a new fuel tank. My question is, Does anybody know of a website where I could get a larger capacity fuel tank for it? Preferably plastic/polyeurethane.

Would this be a good idea, putting a bigger gas tank in there?

The Sidekick Sport comes with a larger tank but I have no idea if it would fit in yours.

You would probably save a ton of money by getting a good tank from a wrecked kick.

Then how about adding a 5 gal jerry can on a rack on the back? cheaper and easier Ill bet.  Plus it will look cool as all heck and you can take it off when you dont want it.  look at the various gas can mounts in all the 4WD catalogs for ideas.

You could even consider one of those mini jerry cans in 2.5 gal that look like a mini version of the 5 gal can.  that would still add over 50 miles of range.

Or a pair of the 2.5 mini cans, mounted one on each side of the spare.

Run with it.  I'll bet you can come up with some cool ideas on your own!

The frame rails are farther apart on a Sidekick Sport, so I bet it won't fit.

However - is your 90 Kick a 2-door or a 4-door (did they make a 4-door in 90?)

If it's a 2-door, I think you should be able to fit a 4-door tank in there.  (14.5 gallons, instead of 11.1)

Nope, The stock tank is as big as you can get unless you wanna start cutting the frame.

That's for a Sammi.  They have more sexy stuff for Sammies than for Track/Kicks.  At least today they do.
