sammi soft top help?
« on: September 05, 2007, 09:03:49 PM »
so I have a somewhat new soft top on my sammi, and the top behind the spare tire does not have anything to hold it down. What should it have. Looks like it may have had velcro at one point. Any help would be great.

Well mine has studs or pins sticking out the back on the tail gate, looks like they screw in and are about 1/8" dia with a grove on it near the end, black in color.

There are no studs behind the spare. You should have 3 on the drivers side and 1 on the pass. side, nothing directly behind the tire. With the spare mounted you would not be able to get to the snaps very easily. Some one must have mounted the velcro to help close that spot.

Hope this gives a clearer pic for you.

the velcro is a stock solution since you can't get behind the tire.  I took mine off to repaint the tailgate at one time and never put it back in.  the studs hold the back secure enough without it.
