1.6 engine swap with automatic? is it worth it ?

ive got a 1990 samurai with a realy bad wiring problem that has actually screwed up my computer at the same time.ive also got a 1989 model sidekick parts rig with the 1.6 and an auto trans.I am just wondering if it would be worth my while to pull my 1.3 and 5-speed to swap them.Ive also just purchased a 1988 carb'ed samurai that can use a better engine,so i figured that i would swap the 1.6/auto trans in my nice samurai and use the engine and trans from it to put in the 88.can someone give me advice and possible spec's?

From what I have heard, the automatics work better off road, but being they are only a 3 speed, the don't do as well as the 5 speed on the road.

The 3-speed will be fine in a Samurai. And I think wheeling with an auto is WAY nicer than 5-speed.
