Rear Differential
« on: February 04, 2008, 04:40:53 PM »
Does anyone know a site with step by step instructions on how to change the seal in a 1986 Suzuki Samuria 4x4???? Looking to buy one but the owner says he put on a new axel and now the rear differential leaks.  How much would a replacement like this cost??? Is it a easy fix??? Or how long would it take to change it???? Or could this be a big problem and need to stay away from it......looks great but just need to know these questions before I buy....

Thanks

A $20 haynes or chilton manual will tell you how to do all of that.  Yes, it is simple, if you know what you're doing.

your talking about the difffrential right? There is no seal, remove the drain plug drain the oil, remove the drive line, remove all the bolts around the diff, you will not be able  to take out the diff as the axels go into the diff but you can pull it out about a half inch clean both edges very good put some gasket maker around it and set the diff back on but don't tighten it for a couple hours then snug everything up

If he has 90wt on the rear brakes it's an axle seal, no big deal just pull the axle out and pop the old seal out and take a socket and tap in a new one.
