Well, we need a little more information.  Where are you trying to get a photo to appear?

As your Avatar??  In your signature??  In a post?   Is it saying the picture is too large?  Or what is the error you get when you try to upload the picture??

If you are trying to include an avatar (under you user name) are you using the   "I have my own pic"   or the "I will upload my pic"  option??

If you use the first one, you have to have your picture hosted online somewhere, it sounds like you don't, so you need the second option..

You click Browse and navigate to the file you want to attach.. right??

then what happens, exactly.

If you want, I could host the picture for you, and send you the URL to include where you want it.

In order to display a picture on an internet website (forums, web pages, etc.) you must somehow put the picture directly on the website (like this forum) or you must upload it to a hosting server as Quaddawg suggests.  The easiest of the two is to upload from your disk as described in Quaddawg's post.  You can also email your picture to Quaddawg and let him put it on his hosting server.  He will send you a link so you can "connect" your picture to any forum profile, forum post or website that you wish!

Also, you must be aware that certain file formats will not work on the internet.  The principal one among these is the BMP format.  Most browsers cannot/will not display this format.  For maximum compatibility, you need to use JPEG (.jpg) or the venerable GIF (.gif) formats to create/save files.  I use Windows Paint to do most of my converting and limited photo/graphic editing.   Adobe Photoshop Elements is also an excellent tool ($95.00).

If you are creating an "avatar" (that little picture that appears below your name in a post on the left side) you need to be aware that most forums have specific requirements for picture size (height and width in pixels) along with file size.

Naturally, there are helpful tips in this sites' help section along with a "how to post pictures" post at the top of this forum's message list.

If all this sounds like gobbledygook, it's okay.  It was amazingly incomprehensible to most of us at first too! (me included)

Good luck!

PS:  The effect of oil dripping from my avatar Samurai was done by creating a sequence of GIF files, then creating an animated Gif graphic with Microsoft's GIF Animator program (freeware!).
