Parts Zuke Questions
« on: August 24, 2004, 10:12:02 AM »
Ok I'm the proud new owner of a new to me parts 4 door Sidekick.  Since mine is a 2 door Ive got plans for swaping the breaks and replacing my broken front third.  However Ive got some Questions.......

I know swaping in a 16 valve is a lot of work and Im sure I can do it, but is the power difference worth it?

Have any of you swaped power mirrors?  How bad is it?

Whats the 16 valve worth if I sold it with the wiring?

What are the differences between the gas tanks?

How many licks does it take to get to the center of a tootsie pop?

Last but not least, why am I so excited about a $150 dollar rolled and totaled 10 year old vehicle?

Thanks
Patrick

How many miles on this 16valve?

Yeah, I would say it's worth it, but if you don't want the hassle, I might buy the motor from you..  ;D (I drive a chimney)

Usually a 2 door has a 10-11 gallon gas tank, and a 4 door has a 14.5 gallon tank.  The 4 door's tank may not fit on your two door between the frame rails, but I could be incorrect about this. If it does, there is always a way to make it work! Even if you have to make mounts for it. 8)

As for a tootsie pop, 1.... 2.... 3! *CRUNCH*

But, as for your rolled truck to see why you're excited:

the 16 valve swap is an easy swap as long as it goes into another kick, the hard part of the 16 valve swap only pertains to the sammi due to the modified harness, motor mounts and tranny adaptor.

it may be time consuming but just swap the whole thing over to your 2 door, including the power mirrors, it's all in the same harness

The pics will come later Ive still got to pic the truck up (tonight if all things go well).

I dont know how many miles are on it yet, not that it matters zuke engines last forever.

What do you supose the shipping is from New Hampshire to Idaho?

Does anyone know how to get the mirrors off without breaking them?

Can the tailgate be modefied to work on a softtop?

i think their are 3 or 4 bolts or screws on the inside of the door panel.  you must remove this little plastic panel to get to them.  i can hardly remeber anymore sence i switched to folding mirrors off an S-10.  now the mirrors don't slow me down on the trail. ;D

I don't think you got a bad deal for 150$.

:)

As for the motor, I think I am just going to go with a reman.

Those axles though look like the ones that don't have the 4 bolts in the middle, am I right? Did that rear end take a beating, because it looks crooked? I might be interested in those axles, if they are the ones I am talking about.

How good is the rear seat? Any rips or tears?

Yes those axels dont have the 4 bolts.  The rear is ou of another Kick the guy I got it from had swaped them out he said this one is bent but I havent looked it over yet.  The rear seat didnt have any rips as far as I could see but it does have some moss on it.

BTW The passenger side back door is absolutly perfect no rust or anything I was amaised and confused.  The tailgate isnt bad either.
