OME Struts and shocks
« on: April 08, 2008, 07:15:36 PM »
I am looking to get a little more aticulation. My buddy told me to put on some Old Man Emu shocks and struts. I have calmini struts and shocks now and I know that the calmini struts are the exact same as the stock ones that I took off when I put my lift on. Any ideas??? Thanks...

The OME stuts have 40mm ( 1 1/2") more travel than the stock struts. If you have the Calmini strut spacers then you will most likely run into CV problems running both.

I just ordered the OME struts a couple of hours ago. The OME struts are selling like crazy and the rocky-road people cant keep them in stock          There doesnt really seem to be anyway around it The OME strut seems to be superior amung all the struts for the suzukis   or at least thats the impression that i got

The Calmini strut spacer is 2". The only easy work around is to remove the Calmini spacer which will leave you with less 1/2" articulation. There may be a more difficult solution which I haven't fully investigated yet. The Calmini kit appears to alter the distance between the output of the axle and the front hub. This means that the driveshafts are more extended than they are in stock form (although the angles are less). If you do the (US) drivers side axle on both sides mod then you should be able to fit spacers between the flanges and gain additional CV travel. That could enable you to run the OME struts and the Calmini strut spacers. Like I said I haven't fully investigated this yet so you would have to measure it all up very carefully. Mike may know the answer, he did a lot of messing about with the Calmini kit and driveshafts.
