I just bought an 89 tracker here in Costa Rica about a month ago.  It's a Texas car imported down here with about about 1k on a top end rebuild.  Thing runs great doesn't use any oil and I'm really happy with it.  I have noticed that it's noisy though and I was thinking maybe I had an exhaust leak.  At idle it's quiet but from about 1,500 up to 3K it sounds loud.  The previous owner had the muffler and catalytic converter replaced and it sounds quiet under the car, sounds like it's coming from the engine compartment.  Today I was working on some wiring under the hood and the valvetrain sounds normal ( I just adjusted the valves last week) but anyone think the Mikuni TBI is loud?  The exhaust sounds normal when it's not under load and it's had to check it while driving:((  Any other ideas?

I have an 89 also, and yes there is a loud sound that comes from
the Throttle Body area, this is normal since I bought mine new,
and is louder with an electrical load like when the lights are on
