Hey everyone i appreciate you looking at this i just recently bought a 95 sidekick 2 door 4wd got it for dirt cheap so issues were expected. I have a lot of labor hours in it and some money trying to keep it a budget toy. The rearend is welded and i believe the front axle was welded as well because all four spun all the time. but the front axle housing on passenger side broke and broke passenger cv shaft. Like stated earlier im trying to keep this cheap as possible for the most part i am searching junkyards looking to replace the everything the hog cv shafts hubs because they will cut it all out in one. Is there anything i should watch for gear ratio what will bolt up what wont. Also this is a strictly off road toy it never touches the street what are some good upgrades for these thing. I am brand new to the Suzuki world so pardon my ignorance.

You have a broken housing? or a broken half shaft? The pass side is a stub
axle attached to the half shaft, but if you have a broken axle housing, you will
want to get a whole new one.

You should get the same as you have, if you have a 5 speed, get the same,
or if auto trans, get the same as they have different gear ratios

Thanks for the help and i have both a broken housing and broken half shaft on the passenger side. What are some good mods to make these more off road capable even at stock height and a set of 31x10.50 mt's i was really impressed but always want more. And do these things have a posi front end or was my axle probably just welded?

I forgot to add that i am pulling the sway bar out this weekend and i wasnt sure if that would make it more unstable on off camber hills or in bad angles would it be more likely to roll or would it make a difference.

The sway bar will make you corner soft, or lots of body roll, you won't have
any trouble off road on inclines or off camber situations, I have removed mine
years ago, just no road racing OK 

You need to get a new front housing, and you might want to just get a new
front complete, and grab a new used half shaft from the donor rig, the new
manufactured half shafts are junk, get good used OEM units instead.

lol that suzuki will never see the street and i got a good price on one from a junk yard from hub to hub but now having trouble locating it kind of long story. I just wasn't sure about what would work and what wouldnt wasnt sure about gear ratios and what would bolt up. Thanks alot for the help it is much appreciated.

Found a 96 i believe 4 door five speed tracker in a junkyard with a good front axle in it was curious that would work or how specific i need to be with finding this new axle.

the axle housing should be identical - a direct bolt-in.

Remember: if the old Third Member is completely intact and you are worried about gear ratios, you could pull and re-use it.

Even if it is damaged, you can take the parts form whatever Gen1/2 Tracker or Sidekick  (probably not a Sidekick Sport) and swap the damaged parts out.

Limited Slip Differentials are a rare item in Suzukis.  I am aware only of LSDs being available for Samurais as an aftermarket item.  Nowadays Samurai LSDs are rare as frog fur!  You probably have a welded front dif.

sounds good thank you i really appreciate all the help the housing looked the same to me but just wasnt sure. I also got to thinking i have a buddy who could weld that housing for me if i had him weld up something in the middle of where the three bolts from the passenger mount bolt into the housing and more or less "make it all one peice" wouldnt that help prevent that housing from breaking significantly.

And what exactly are you talking about when you say third member?

On some axles (Suzuki, Toyota, Some Ford) the differential can be pulled out once the axles are removed.  That is the third member.  On a Dana, like the Jeeps have, you need to setup the diff inside your axle housing.

Ok makes sense now hopefully i didnt destroy the gears too just seems like i did have to tear into it and see.

I had those 3 bolts break open, it's caused from loose bolts, not just
because the housing is "hollow" there, so I welded it solid, redrilled
the holes a little bigger, and used SAE hardware, and longer bolts that
go all the way to right next to the carrier, and loc-tite them in so they
cannot back out, no problems for 7 years now, so you can have it welded
if you want.
