ok, ive tossed around quite a few ideas in my head on how to build an awesome sidekick for daily driving use and lots of mud and tight trails. so...ive been checking out the trail tough sas kit, and heres my big question:  can i run the sas with 2" coil spacers? it seems like i could, but id like some input on this.
and one more question: why are track/kicks geared so low stock without seeming like they are geared so low? would the toy axles fix this? basically, could i run 4.56 or 4.88 gears and be geared properly with a 5 speed to run 35" tires? or would i need excessively low r&p's, like 5.83 or lower? remember, i WILL have to drive this on the street.

We have small, high revving engines that don't make a lot of power.  So in order to keep them in their power band and actually go freeway speeds Suzuki geared them low.  Our engines don't mind turning 3-4000 rpm so it's okay for them to do that while we're cranking down the highway.  The same rpm in a V8 would be a bit on the high side...

Using your stock engine and 4.56 gears in a Tracker on 35's would be a BAD idea.  It'd be slower than mine with 31's and 4.30 gears.  I also manage a whopping 17mpg.

If you want to DD 35's and the stock engine you're going to need some DEEP gears, as deep as you can get for the Toy axles.

the deepest you can go with toy axles is 5.72:1 this barely compensates for 33's

I don't see a problem with adding spacers to the trailtough kit. you may run into some driveshaft bind at some point.

Take a look at the OTT industries Kicker3 it mates a samurai tcase behind the sidekick tcase. the nice thing is the sammy tcase has hi range reduction. I figured it out and 4.56's or 4.37's in toy axles would be good for 33's or 35's with the hi range reduction of the sammy box (1.4:1)

I would find stock 4.10 axles and a sammy case with a 4:1 gearset in it and it gives you even more hi range reduction! and amazing low range as well!!!

you will need to lower you t-case set if you want to run 35's
i have 5.29 in my yota axles but im running dual cases the rear with 5:1 .

id modify your t-case and go with a milder r&p

ok, that helps, but id like to use a 2 door, so i wont have a ton of room for multiple t-cases. so...maybe swap a 2wd or sammy tranny and a sammy t-case with 4:1 low range? would that work?
OR
just buy a 2wd, do the sas, and put in a sammy t-case with 4:1 low range.
any thoughts? suggestions?
ive got the sammy t-case, i just will need to get the new gears for it, and ive got a sammy tranny, which i think is still good

here's what im going to do...try to find a decent, cheap, older 2 door 2wd soft top sidekick with a 5 speed and 1.6L 8 valve engine. add twin turbos, isky cam, 3" turbo back exhaust, sammy t-case with 4:1 low range, TT SAS kit with 2" coil spacers and Rancho RS9000X shocks, toy axles with chromoly shafts, front and rear detroit lockers, 4.56 gears, custom driveshafts, warn hubs, 15x12 beadlocks, and 35x14.5 boggers. ARB winch bumper, ARB snorkel, custom rear bumper, warn powerplant winch.

i think thats it, i just need to save some cash and find a good sidekick.  ;D

An interesting concept but rather pointless, you only need 1 turbo on an I-4 engine. Apart from the 3" exhaust the rest sounds good. Start saving now  ;D

yeah, but i already have the twin turbos off an rx7, and ill probably use 2.5" exhaust now that im thinking about it more. and im already saving everything i can, but it will still take me a while to build. first things first....find a kick.  ;D
