My 91 Tracker is painfully slow....I'd like to see what people suggest for quicker acceleration and/or overall performance on the road.

I had a "cold air" or short ram aftermarket intake on my tracker....sounded cool...but actually hurt my throttle response, and with some mudding, I feared getting water in the engine, so I scrapped it.

Gearing is essiential. Turbo don't hurt either.
The usual stuff, and 2nd generation Air to liquid intercooled TURBOCHARGER

Gearing is the achelles heel of the tracker world - especially when it comes to 31" tires.

There are no aftermarket gears for the trackick's that will help the high range. The only option is to change out the ring gears and pinions. If you have an automatic, chances are you have 4.67's, and you can swap the 5.12's from a manual kick. If you have a manual trans, you are pretty much stuck with what you have unless you can find a set of 5.62's or 5.38's. But these are scarce as hen's teeth and if you do run across them, they will be used.

89 sidekick with the 1.3L has the 5.62's.

Transfer case gears will not help on the road. They only reduce the low range side, therefore they would help considerably off road.

Check with the sponsers of this site for tcase gears and other goodies.
