I wonder if one of these wimpy lookin things would actually work?? any one have any experience with them? in dash control swich seems interesting, it says flick it on at full throttle... wonder what happens if you leave it on at idol ... might be interesting to make up a quick one from a few parts and peices around here just to see what it does

yah I have seen these b4 and never ever met any one that has used ....in theory it would work and you probably could hook it up using a full throttle swith instead of a hand control...
really anything to ram more cold air into your engine under higher pressure would work but it does look hoky doesn't it

I've seen those tested on sportbikes with ram air systems, and they added about 1hp on the dyno, but thats with a motor less than half the size of ours.  they don't move enough air for the theory to work, and the extra resistance to flow from it could(probably would) hurt your horsepower

Go buy a used gas powered leaf blower
and save your $$ for some real power items

You'd have about the same thing if you strapped your mom's hairdryer to your intake. Or maybe one of those high volume air pumps to blow up an air mattress. 

that is such a stupid idea - a supercharger turns at about 5000 - 10000rpm if not more - that little fan would not do a thing to your engine and like wedge said it will add more resistance into the intake system when it is off. a complete waste of money!

The adage "if it looks too good to be true, it probably is" seems to fit here.

I googled "electric supercharger" and didn't find anything that would make me believe that I could get appreciable boost (more than 5 psi) for a mere $120...  I'm not saying it's impossible -- I'm just saying that it ain't happening for that cheap.

Hey, we Suzuki owners are reknown in the offroading world as being the tightest with our money.  Let's not earn the Gullibility Award, too.

I asked Zag awhile back about these, and here is how he explaned it....

Electric superchargers....lets think this one through

Lets assume for sake of agrument that the electric supercharger is going to produce 7psi boost at 5500 engine rpm.
Thats approx 75cubic feet per minute...a compressor that moves 75 CFPM requires around 8hp if I remember correctly (direct drive). Now if an electric motor is 75% efficent that means the supercharger is now requiring about 11hp to run and the alternator has to produce the power. Now here my math and memory are pretty weak but 11hp is about 8.4kw and assuming 75% efficency for the Alternator I think that will end up being around a 20+ horsepower draw if our efficencies are that high (and I don't think they are) Now add the weight etc relating to an alternator big enough to produce 8.4kw and you efficeny drops furthur...and we haven't talked belt slip or anything else.

So in a perfect world and not counting many other power losses in the system we are eating up 20hp...what do we get? Well 7psi is about 1/2 an atmosphere so if we get 80hp at 1.0
atmoshpere we should (again in a perfect world) about 120hp |removethispart|@ 1.5....less the 20hp it took to create the 7psi (1/2 atmopsphere)..so absolute perfect world, best case you would gain 20hp over stock.......add god knows how much weight and complication, that will dimish the net power even more...and we are assuming efficency levels that are high and not counting electrical transmission losses, belt slippages and a bunch of other energy eaters.

But what I hope I was able to demonstrate is....

"In our real world...the electrical power required and ineffiecencies would eat any hp gains"

Well those are my thoughts and opinions as best I can give them at 1:20am...hope it helped to explain things a little better (hope I didn't make too many math and memory errors).

figured as much... maybe for a lawn mower or somethin..  ... and yes i wheel my lawn mower .. sadly it almost flex's better then my zuki  ... maybe ill rig up some sort of weird fan blower system just for fun.. i can get second gear rubber with it as is... hehehe
