i've got a 91 sidekick and i need to get a new muffler. i want a muffler that doesn't restrict so much air flow. any suggestions.

im also putting a header on it and installing 2 1/4 inch exhaust pipe.

2" is the recommended size, and the same for the muff, just pick
one that you like the sound of and go with that

i was looking at a cherrybomb turbo muffler. i like the sound and it has good reviews.

Turbo mufflers are really designed for a turbo vehicle, that's why
they are very free flowing and don't do much to change the sound.

A turbocharger tends to quiet the exhaust tone a fair bit, and also
supplies the back pressure the engine needs to run right, that's why
a turbo exhaust system is usually larger than what would be needed
for a non turbo engine.

All this being said,I had a turbo muff before the turbo was installed
and it was too loud on the freeway, and caused that droning that
hurts the ears at certain RPMs, in fact my turbo engine sound with
a cat and no muff was quieter that no turbo and a turbo muff

Choose wisely, I now use a quiet muff and find it has plenty of sound

I ran a turbo muffler ( el cheapo vareity ) with 2 " exhaust before I built my turbo system, it sounded good, not too loud. Tried a Flowmaster Race can once, WAAAAAY to loud and quite an annoying tone.

I use a Thrush glass pack and love the sound.  Many people will tell you that it is annoying, but I love the sound and it is on my daily driver.

I am one of those people.  I guess the sound is just not for everyone, I found it to be to loud and "tingy".  There was also lots of drone from 3000-4500 RPM (Highway Cruising).  I replaced it with a 2" resonated system and a 12" Magnaflow muffler and couldn't be happier. 

hey i am going to get in on this conversation.. Spin tech is what i run, with a magnaflow high flow cat, and Doug thorley header. It is really deep and throaty, and has a nice echo because of the long tube header.

Another question does any body run dumps on the sidekick. Where your exhaust dumps underneath the kicker, instead of coming out the back??? My sas swap made me cut my rear piping right before the rear axle. I am worried about the fumes getting back inside the kicker

Exhaust gets in if you run the pipe all the way back, not
nearly as much, but I ran a stubby pipe for years, there is
enough air flow that I don't think there is much of a problem

dang wild your like on every post, lol. Ya mine dumps a couple inches before the axle. I was thinking of ways to run additional pipe and the only two ways i see are through my body lift, or out the side by the rear passenger door, but i will most likley crush that with a rock.

I live in Texas and you will not pass inspection if  the exhaust does not exit outside of the passenger area.

With my 2 " body lift I was able to run my 2.5" exhaust over the top of the frame in the rear and out the back, almost 7 inches higher than stock.

ya, i would only do a 2" pipe out, but I was thinking it would look pretty nice if I run it through the frame, and then have it come out the bumper.  Its just a bummer though, having the exhaust dump right at the spin tech makes it so much deeper and throaty. 

A high flow cat and a FlowMaster Super 40 will give you a very deep note with out the deafening drone!
