SJ Rear Disk Brake Install
« on: September 26, 2007, 10:20:28 PM »
Just finished putting disk brakes on the back of my SJ.   :)

I used the instructions from BC 4x4 (http://www.bc4x4.com/tech/2000/zukdiscs/zukdiscs.cfm) to start things off.  One problem with the instructions is they failed to mention drilling new holes in the Caliper Mount in order to make it fit on the rear axle instead of grinding the mount out to use the original mounting holes.  If you grind it out, then everything seems to fit perfectly.  But once you tighten all of your bolts up you will find that the caliper doesn't quit clear the rotor.  Then you have to cut everything apart and start over again.  Twice...

Once that was fixed, everything went together smoothly.  Now I can say the brakes are better then ever.  So good in fact that now the Master Cylinder is leaking slightly into the cab...  But that can be fixed later.  :P

I used the front brake lines on the rear and put some extended brake lines from Hawk Suzuki on the front.
