more articulation without swaybar?

I'm thinking about removing it.   The front is a little stiff right now.  Will it be better offroad?

Yes, removing the front swaybar will help off-road traction.  It will also tend to make the rear end spin out on the pavement.  Since you don't drive like sports car on the pavement, you can likely make the compromise.

I have been running my Sammy without the front swaybar for about 9 months now, and I have had absolutely no problem on the road with it, and I definitely have more articulation off road.  Dump it.

I removed the sway bar from my Vit/Track/Kick about 2 years ago. I have a 2" spring lift with fairly soft springs and it altered the handling quite a bit. I found it had more of a tendancy to understeer rather than making the rear spin out. I fitted 1 1/2" wheel spacers and the handling was restored pretty much back to factory. I haven't had the rear step out since and it used to do that quite a lot ;) the spacers were originally bought for my buggy which already has 10" rims on, if I was going to pay out I'd go for rims with less backspacing instead. I have 2" strut spacers to improve the front articulation and I found that the swaybar fouled on the steering when the wheel dropped.

Rhinoman makes an excellent point.  In a stock Sidekick, the classic reaction to removing the front bar would be oversteer.  However, changing ride height, spring rates and such will change the equation.  With my 3 inch lift, I added a rear anti-roll bar to balance the handling after I removed the front bar.

You just have to try it and see how it works with your set-up.

I just unhooked the front one on my tracker.  I never tested it before and after.  all i know is that i could(with a lil help) drive ontop omy friends 38's with the back tire only coming off the ground a little with the sway bar.  Mabey i can do it with the back one on the ground now?  lata Stu

With a bit longer rear shock should help... ;)
