Mo power?

Howdy folks
I've been lurking here for about a month now,I finally regesterd so I could join in.
I have a 94 tracker hardtop  with a 1.6l 8v motor and a 5 speed trans. I was atracted to these because I have seen them up on the lift and like the way they are built. I like the samys for off road use but but I prefer the independant front ends for highway use .
I do lightly wheel mine but mostly just on the beach or bad roads.... Trust me , We have plenty of bad roads here on the southern Oregon coast!

The first mod  I felt nessary was to get some taller tires on this thing, the motor was winding way too much (in my opinion) at road speeds , so I went with some 235 75 15's .... ah what a releif! of course I lost some snap but heck  I could actualy cruise around town in 3rd and 4th gear . Then since the 235's were stuffed on the stock wheels, I  swapped in some 15x7 white spokes that was better! But the tires rubbed on the rear so I got me a set of grand vitara springs from Rick |removethispart|@ Hawk and put them in,  that gave me the clearence I needeed. now I pretty satisfied with the suspencion I am still lacking some passing power.
the motor seams to have enough low rpm power for low speed  lugging up hills . But winding it up past 4,500 rpm is of no use . I have built a custom exhaust out of 2 1/4' pipe into a 24' 1 3/4'  glasspack and out through a 1 3/4" tail pipe it sounds ok but it didn't make any improvment.
I have replaced the spark plugs and wires  changed the  fuel filter .    advanced the timing a little but it still lacks passing power
I have looked at cams But I have heard the throttle body is restrictive and the cam can't work whithout more air/ fuel.
I thought about using a dry Ntrous system but haven'y heard of anybody useing it on a zuke.

What would you Folks  do for more power?

If you dont have a header get one. That combine with a 2 inch exhaust helps a lot past 4000 rpm.
