Gears,  vitara, Gv and xl-7???
« on: March 14, 2004, 03:10:34 AM »
Ok in the T.S.B article in zukiworld of march, they explain the way to make the vitara, gv and xl-7 better. Ok!

But why they said this:

WARNING: If you are going to do this, make sure you do BOTH the front and the rear gears at the same time. If you do the rear first, and you're coming home one day and accidentally engage the 4X4. Well, guess what? You'll be leaving your drivetrain behind you on the floor.

My question is what gears ratio are in the vitara, gv and xl-7 if it's different to 5.12:1???

Manual and auto are different or the same???

And i will buy an 2000 vitara 2 doors manual, they have abs???(i wish not)

Thanx

Fredo

I've heard of 4.30 and 4.88 being the gears in the GV. I'm not sure with the 4 cyl trucks.

Thank you very much!

2 doors manual : 4.875:1

2 doors auto: 5.125:1

Grand vitara manual:4.3:1

GV auto: 4.875:1

XL-7 manual: 4.3:1

XL-7 auto: 5.125:1

Manual R&p are always higher than auto????

It's not suposed to be manual lower than auto, like kick manual 5.125:1 and auto 4.625:1???

There is not hard and fast fule about R&P ratios.  They all depend on the output from the transmission.

While the kicks used to have higher ratios in manuals, the GVs are just the opposite.  The trannys changed.

The XL7 uses a different rear pig, so you can not swap gears on an XL7.

But a manual GV (4.30) can benefit greatly by using Kick manual (5.12) gears when running larger tires.
