i got more pics  some where, ill try get them up once i get back from sea. 6 weeks. it has a 350 small block, sm 465 tranny and np 208 trsnsfer. toy axles front and rear(locked) 35"tires,the tire rod is off on the drivers side as im going to make alot stronger front end parts for it. the engine smokes right now, (dead #1 cyl) and it is by far the scariest thing i have ever driven. the wheel base is 14 " longer then it is wide. once i get a steering stabilizer and the tires balanced it should be a bit nicer to drive.
pain is temporary, pride is forever

no major rust issues just had my brake master leaking so it caused a bit of corrosion. nothing I can't cut, weld, and patch.  I'm not quite done yet, just finished my body and suspension lift along with my transfer case and diff gearing. I rebuilt my front end because everything was already apart.
I'll keep updating Pics as I finish things. Right now I'm trying to get my hands on original military camo type paint from somebody who bought some for his hummer. working on the body because of rust on the hood and below the windshield. Gotta put on fender flares so the law doesn't get me, tires sticking out about 3 inches . Its getting better from what it was

Ya, you are right. I'm a Sidekick guy too, but that thing is sweeeet. The only problem is my kids would get cold with no doors or top, which is the way i think it looks good. My 4dr. Kick is just right and doesn't look too bad either.

Here is my 1987 Suzuki Samurai, Found her for sale on the side of the road for 800$, talked the guy down to 500$! Everything is pretty much stock. 1.3 L 5 speed. It has a 2" shackle lift on it. I have plans to build her up. She runs pretty darn good but I'm having a problem with it putting oil all over my tranny and Cat. Conv. so it smokes when I am not moving!  :-\ I'm happy with it over all. P.S. In one pic you can see some white paint. That's from a paintball game with some pals, we used her as a transport vehicle! haha fun times. Everyone have a good night,

Puddlehopper Snowed On
« Reply #434 on: December 03, 2007, 09:36:50 PM »
'

Remember the Blizzards of 2006-2007 in Denver?  This was the first and biggest one on my Samurai.  Usually the sun comes out after a storm and everything is melted in a few days.  We almost broke the "consecutive days of snow on the ground" record, at least made the top five all time.  What's 63 days after Dec20? Last week of February, according to the Weather Service, but we still had ice on the streets for a couple of weeks beyond that.  Big tires were too worn out to do much good and the motor has been very tired since the summer before.  Bought a cheap set of snow tires and put them on the old stock rims and got around when we had to anyway.  Got the motor short blocked last month, leaving the 1.3l stock.  Finally getting close to having it back in.

My son made a shrewd deal for it about three years ago.  Traded an '85 Dodge 4X2 one-ton with no doors plus $700 for this '88 Samurai.  The truck got a new timing chain in auto shop class and we put exhaust stacks thru the bed behind the cab with glass packs to make it sound cool.  I thought he'd gotten the short end of the trade until we heard that the truck caught fire a couple of weeks later.  This rag-top came with a fiberglass cover and a bikini, which makes a nice combination.  It had a spring over axle conversion done and P265/70-15's, but the brake lines and gears hadn't been properly addressed.  Plus it had been abused.  All the door handles and window cranks, along with just about everything else plastic had been busted off.  At least the outside looks pretty good.  Got a long list to fix.

Happy trails.
