Body Lifts

How much body lift is too much.  I know this is a very opinionated thing.  Here's why I was thing about doing a 3 1/2" bd lift and just wanted to get some in put. My options are limted for my XL-7 it ether a 2" RRO kit (which by the way is not for sale yet) or make one my self which would have to 3.5" box tube to be able to bolt it on.

The shifters are the biggest problem. 3 1/2 is a lot to fit a shifter through the hole. I had 3 inch square tube and it worked fine but the shifters were a pain.

I think on a XL-7 (like a GV) the steering would be the biggest problem because of the system it's very hard to lengthen the shaft. After that the shifters would be a problem, but I'm not a GV expert  ::)

I and my buddy both have 4 1/4 and we can shift fine, no grinding was required for the shifter area.

4 1/4 is quite a lot. What model do you have?
At least in my GV, a 2" lift will probably need some plastic coming off to allow the gearbox shifter to move proerly. Maybe the transfer shifter too. ::)

Nomad did a 2" bd lift on an Xl-7 the only shifter issues he had was the rubber boot as he did not extend the shifter.

So from I've read so far 3.5"  wouldn't too much except the steering and shifter?
