I don't know but to me it seems like an at would do better on rocks because well the road is alot like a rock and at a is better on the road.  But i could see the lugs of an mt griping ledges better for like a step up or ledge. Just curious on other peoples thoughts.  And on mpg i have heard about 3 mpg what are your experiences with this?

I run BFG AT's on my Tracker, and do a lot of on road driving with them, obviously there much better, smoother and quieter on road. Previously I was running Super Swamper TSL radials. They rode like bricks, noisy, but did great in deep mud. Not worth the trade off for me, I've found my BFG's able to handle just about anything, rocks, sand, dirt and mud too. If it's that muddy, I just go around.

That's a tough call.  I run MT's on the Gnewt, and she does great on rock.  On slickrock (which isn't the least bit slick) at Moab, I think an AT may actually be better, but on rough chunky rocks, the big deep lugs of an MT might be able to grab better.

I don't really care much about MPG on my trail rig - it gets around 20 on the highway, but heck, the 33's I'm spinning weigh almost as much as the vehicle.

That's about what i'm thinking.  When in mud around here or real mud any who we chain up so it doesn't matter what tires you have cause the mud we have is real clay like and doesn't clean out.  And i get 22 with my k and n and 33 10.5 15  but any buddy else have an opinion?

It is funny they call it slick rock now that you mention it cause it has great grip... strange.

trackerprts runs the new BFG MTR's and really liked their on-road behavior at the last Fall Adventure Challenge.  I think Eric has been pretty happy with the 33x12.5 ones on his Tracker.  Neither of them had any problems running on the sand.
