Lifted sidekick tracker rear shocks?
« on: April 03, 2008, 11:52:58 AM »
I've seen several differant types of shocks people have used for a 2" lift before, just can't find where now. So I'm starting a new post for it!

Please list the shocks (what they're off of) you have used here. Thanks for the help

I got a pair of Monroes from Lordco, but the f'ed up on the numbers and I did not know it till I went wheelin.  I told them I needed a set 2" longer than stock when fully extended.
They supplied me with a set 5.25" longer.  now my springs almost fall out when fully extended.
not going back there, I did my own math this time and ordered a set of ProComp #120510 shocks.
They are almost the same price and even come with rubber boots.
I think now on hind sight I should not have played the cross reference game, the ProComp shocks actually list that number as for a 2" lift.

i am using mustang rear shocks also.
a good auto parts store will let you look thru the shock spec. book. it lists lengths and mount types.
i figured the 'stang was lighter than the vic? bolted right in. feels good.
'89 kick w/little motor, still got pieces of jeff's pucks, stan's sticks into 4.24:1 tcase, 31x10.5x15's, rear lockrite, kick power steering, some radios(kj6esv), bmw seat, other changes just because. done on the cheap.
suzi the psychic gets me fishing.

OK. I've heard of 91 crown vics, 95 mustangs and kinda remember F150. I looked at the vics and the stangs tonight. It looked like the mustang would work better, same diameter bolt for the lower mount.

Installing tomorrow ;D

I've got the vics on mine and I did measure and they were truely 2" longer than the stock ones.  I am curious on the mustang shocks.  Does it matter what engine the mustang had or do all 95 mustangs have the same shocks?

I disagree on the mustang shocks being all the same!

I originally bought from Lordco, but on a whim checked the next door neighbour parts place and they crossed the shocks to two different Gabriel shocks: one was the same price because it was for a performance handling package and the other was $30 less because it was for the regular handling package.  I, of course, saved myself $30 and some extra valving that I don't want anyway.

The number I had was from a posting on this site.  Oh, and I measured them all ... they were all pretty much the same dimensions on the counter (But I have long since chucked the bit of paper I wrote it all down on.)

Cheers,

Aaron
I used to be indecisive but now, I'm not so sure.

F150 shocks work, and they're 3" longer than stock. Problem is, the tube is thicker so you need to modify or change the lower mount so it doesn't hit on up travel. You can buy shock mounts from Sky Manufacturing, they're not listed in their website, but they have them. Or you can make a set with the proper bolt, some metal and a welder.

People will do any of the following:
Old Man Emu struts
Strut mount flip
Strut spacer
Longer struts included in various lift kits(calmini, ect)
Thread on strut extentions
Sometimes combo's of these...
I'm sure there are a few I missed...

A strut mount flip is snough of a lift upgrade to match the longer Crown vic shocks?  Or should you do a combo of flip and spacer.
