I need new rear shocks for my 93 Tracker and I'm planning on adding 1-1/2" coil spacers. I'd like a little more travel and/or droop than stock without compromising the driveshaft slip yoke or the coil seats. I've searched the whole site and found a lot of info about crown victoria shocks, but I need to know if those would work with only 1-1/2" coil spacers or would I be better off with just stock shocks?

   You'll want to change the shocks.  I put on the '91 Crwn Vics after my 1.5" spacers and it was a major improvement!  Might be a better option out there though, cause I'm learnin' as I go!

any shock is better than the factory suzuki gives.

i changed my shocks about 5 or 6 times in the rear. this was with and with out spacers fitted.

anything that mounts up right will do, although some people have said that passenger/sedans shocks will not hold up to the vigors of off roading, and the constant movement through its stroke. have yet to happen to mine.

when i didnt have coil spaces, i used a shock that was 590mm extended, then put on some other shocks that were 610mm extended. with the longer shocks, i could remove the coil at full droop. not good.

i put a 1" coil spacer in and the coil was good.

then i got some other coils, which lifted the back of my vit 2", were softer than the factory, and i then put some shocks that were 630mm extended. the coil only just drops out of the top seat at full droop. very good.

i have also found that the GAS charged shocks were real stiff, and game me a head ache when i drove in town. i guess the valving was for a much heavier sedan.

then i found some factory ones off a holden commodore, the were oil filled ones, and these are the ones i use now.

How much longer are the crown vic shocks over the stock length ones? Are they long enough to allow the spring to fall out at full droop or will the 1-1/2" spacers solve that?

Well, I went a slightly different route. I had a buddy make up some eyelet mounts, and dump the stock stud mounts. I run a rear shock from a stock 4x4 Ford Ranger rear. I have a 2" spacer, and I have the coils captured so they won't pop out, because with these shocks, they WILL pop out. Here's a pic of the mount. My dude can make these as bolt on or weld on also!





Cheesy ass flex shot! It's got a bunch more then that, and I can stuff the tire WAY up there. Need to cut the fenders more!

when i put my bds 2" coils in my truck i used shocks for a 93 ford e150 van (rears) monroe part #32260 - they are 2" longer than a stock suki shock

I got some shocks that are long enough to max out a suspension with a 2" coil spacer and not pop the coilout if you want em. They're beat up, but work, and all you have to do is pay for shipping? I think they're Monroes.

I think they are Monroe Gas Matic. Like 17 a piece I think. The number I got off the shock is 33097 P276W.

I found out the answer myself tonight. At full extension, '91 Crown Victoria shocks are approximately 1-1/2" longer than stock length Tracker shocks, mount the same way and are cheaper than the Tracker shocks. I bought a pair to bolt on with my new coil spacers...
