hey there,
i have a 97 sidekick that for the last month was driving fine, but when placed in park would idle for a minute or so then die. i picked up a obd2 reader to see if it was throwing any codes. i keep getting "ERROR", but if i scroll down from there it gives me 5 non-specific codes: P0110, P0100, P0115, P0120 and P1600 in that order. so based on that, i checked out some of these components according to the Haynes manual using an ohmmeter and the sensors seem to be within range and working.
i also took my egr off to have a look as i have read on here in the past people having similar trouble and it being the egr. it is not clogged and the tube from the egr to intake is fine too.
i also took the gas cap off and listened for the fuel pump. heard it whirring. and i also started it up and when it died the fuel pump was still running before stopping.
ok i thought, maybe the fuel filter, so i cracked open the OUT (exit) side of the fuel filter and fuel drained out. i turned the ignition to the ON position and fuel pee'd out.
checked air filter for clogging (1 yr. old) and mas air.= fine
so the last thing i tried was to unplug the O2 sensor and it seemed to run a lot longer before cutting out.
oh, and when i get it started, if i throw it into gear real fast i can keep it going with a bit of pedal. but if it is in park or N it won't stay running even with a bit of pedal.
it's like -6*C outside and about -20*C with the windchill. i'm sick as a dog now from working on this outside in the cold.
ANY help or suggestions would greatly be appreciated!!
oh, and it's a 1.6 L 16v with 3 speed auto, 2 door, 4x4 built and drivin in Canada!
