building a good bumper is not cheap and spending money on a good one is not a bad purchase. Attaching the winch to the stock bumper might look ok but it will just yank off with even a light pull.
IF you really don't want to get a new bumper you can build a cradle and chain it to the front of the tracker when you need it. We bought a winch as a group purchase and no one had the cash to get a receiver mount built for each vehicle. Each person had a key to my garage and they would just pick up the winch.
I made a craddle that housed the winch and had to big hoops on the back. I chained the hoops to the front of the zuke and pulled the cable out of the front. This isn't easy to handle but got us out of more than one tight spot. Chains are very strong as long as there is no shock put onto them. As long as you have TWO good tow hooks on the front or rear you can use this system. With long cables you can use it in the back too.
How big of a winch are you planning on getting? Another option is to buy a High lift and some gear and work to get yourself out. I've used my jacks to get myself out more than once. SOme cables, shakles, tree straps and other gear and you can get yourself out of almost anything...it just takes time and will get you a good workout.
The best advise to give you is to buy a good winch...the best you can afford and to get it built right. Don't cut corners because I've seen more than one bumper come off.....one guy lost a knee cap from a bad winch mount. His law suit is still in the works....He'll get some money but his stupidity could have killed him.
