The idiot I bought my Suzuki Samurai from sprayed the whole thing with rustoleum bed liner... I wouldnt mind this, except for the fact he only did one coat and didnt put clear coat over the top. Right now my car looks almost gray..... should I put 3 more coats on and spray clear coat? or should I try something else?
I also want to spray a logo on the doors, should I do this before or after I put the clear coat on?

The asshole I bought mine from used the rubberized paint from a paint can, on the interior.   You can literally scrape it of with your fingernail.    We like to write stuff in it.    I can't even begin to tell you what a pain in the ass it was getting it all off.   I ended up using the powerwasher, then primed it and painted it right.


Can't really help you with your question, is the painting holding up well?  or does it scratch right off?

well it stays on, but its impossible to try to clean it. And once you spill a drink or slam through a puddle your screwed because it leaves a stain that will only come out by recoating it with the spray paint. I cant even think of how to remove it...

I think you might have to take it and get it profesionally shot with the good stuff or you will always have the issue.

Rustoleum bedliner = CRAPTASTIC

leave it out in direct intense sun for a few weeks and it will powerwash right off. Also extreme cold will cause it to flake off.

There is only one bedliner I would EVER use, Monstaliner!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have used it on several project vehicles and have put it down in several truck beds without a single failure or glitch!!!

I installed it in the sidekick over a year ago now, I delivered several thousand pounds of supplies over the mtns last summer and fall during the flooding here, spilled saw fuel and oil on the liner, several deers worth of blood, soda, coffee, mud, muck, salt, etc, etc, etc and all it takes is a vacuuming and then a quick wipe with a wet cloth and it looks brand spanking new!!!

this may sound a bit TABOO but could I put the stuff over the existing bedliner?

Depends if the current stuff is adhered well enough not to come off later.

Have you tried hitting it with a really strong power washer to see if you can just blast it off?

I saw on another forum that black bed liner will quickly fade to grey unless covered by a UV protector from the manufacturer. It has to be applied while the bedliner is setting up. They were using Herculiner.

I don't think you can do anything with it now. Unfortunately, I have no idea how to remove it.

That is the huge downfall of herculiner, the crumbled rubber in it is not UV stable, a single season in the bed of a  truck parked in the driveway vrs a garage has it looking like it is 20 years old.

I have used black Monstaliner in the bed of several trucks and 5 years later it hasnt faded much at all because of the UV stabillizers. No chalking, fading or crumbling.
