Supercharger 410 motor?

Hi guys, Iv'e been tossing up a few ideas about a little more power from the little 1000cc motor in my 410 ute. I have found forsale over here in NZ a supercharger from a 660cc suzuki motor that is near brand new as it was off a test car in japan and is very reasonably priced. I was wondering what would be involved in fitting this to my motor and how hard it would be? Im currently running a a SU carb off a Mini. The motor is a little tired so maybe a rebuild would be in order when fitting this? Some of you may ask WTF why would i bother with the 1000cc motor? It's becuase i'm looking to do something different! Everybody over here either puts a toyota 4age in or a sammy motor or a tracker (as you call them  ;D) motor in but I painted my 410 bright yellow......it just has to be done  :laugh:

So any answers or tips would be appreciated, pics of my 410 are on the last page of the suzuki photos at the top of this forum  ;)

I'm not sure about a Supercharger, but there was an after market company in England that had two different turbo conversions available for the SJ-410 when it was still on the market.

Apparently one way to build it is to have the carb mounted in front of the supercharger, so the fuel/air mixture is mixed before it is compressed by the supercharger.  This gets rid of the problem with the fuel bowl not accepting gas as it is full of compressed air.  But you can blow up the supercharger if the car backfires.  :P

You would probably have to have a slightly stronger fuel pump in order to make sure you have fuel, and probably larger jets but I don't see why it wouldn't work.

Yeah, knew about the fuel pump needing to be bigger (gives a good excuse to get rid of the shitty mechanical one and replace it with a good electric one!) Thats how I have heard of a set up (running carb then charger then to the motor) seems like a good way to go! Won't be running big boost or anything silly like that and it's only a very tiny supercharger......can't go to wrong.....if it does the motor was on the way out anyway!  ??? :laugh:

The turbos ran 5-8psi on a stock motor. The best set up is supercharger, carb, manifold but you need a carb capable of running under boost. These aren't very common but they are out there (ie Metro turbo). I would like to supercharge my 410 engine but chargers of a suitable size fetch too much money over here because the bike boys want them. I was watching a nice little Aisin charger on eBay a couple of weeks ago - would have been just the thing.

He probably ment the Geo Metro but, the supercharger that Moss Motors sells for the MGB might be made to work. I always wanted to put on on my "B" before I sold it but, it was (and probably still is) very expensive. Not sure what is available on the other side of the pond but, something that could be adapted probably exists.

I thought the Geo Metro Turbo was fuel injected, which is why I was wondering.  That and I wasn't even sure they had Geo's over there  :)

You think a turbo would be easier to build for a carbed rig?  Rig up a preasure/air preasure sensitive switch that would increase the fuel pressure to compensate for the air preasure automatically?  Or am I over thinking this?  :)

MG Metro turbo - no Geos over here. The MG Metro turbo was fitted with a special SU carb, designed to be blown through.
