On the widening mod, do you have to do the mods to the CV shafts or will stock ones work just fine?

Stock will work fine as long as you space out the inners as per the article

Do we need to weld on a spacer on both sides if we are using stock axles?  Or should we switch to a single axle for both sides since we are doing the welding anyway?

I read that, but it wasn't really clear on the final construction/assembly.

So in total, you cut up 3 shafts in order to make spacers.

On the Passenger side, you made a single spacer and used a drivers side CV Shaft.

On the Drivers Side, you made two spacers, welded them together, used the same CV Shaft.

But if we just wanted to use the stock shafts, you would need to have 4 spacers, two for each side right?

You'll need the modification for the right side (pasenger) to fit the drivers side shaft.
and the modifactions (This requires welding, drilling, three spare three bolt inner axle shafts, spare left side CV shaft, and a chop saw or cutoff wheel.(equal to a 1"inch spacer?))
on the left side (drivers side (for U.S. standards)

If you don't have any diff drop brackets then you may be able to used the stock driveshafts. The diff drop brackets (at least the Calmini ones) leave the CVs extended about an inch more than stock. It will also depend on what strut spacing/struts you are running, non-stock will also require more travel.
