Leaf over sami rear bumpstops- Looking 4 ideas
« on: April 19, 2004, 02:36:15 PM »
Well my lift is done for the most part. I thought I'd be able to get away with using the built in bumpstops on my Doetsch Tecs in the rear but it's not working as good as it use to. Since the shocks are on an angle it throws the geometry off and pushes the axle to the side instead of acting as a fulcrum.
So what have some of you guys used (stock rubber, urethane, ect.) Send pics if you have a good design.

Thanks Tom. I'm trying to get it all done before then. Won't have the front winch but everything else should be done. With the gears and rolling on 36's I can do 65 so it is still streetable. You gotta see my 2wdlow wheelie. ;D
See ya at Paragon.
What are you working on lately?

Pete.

Petroworks sells a kit to weld on tubing to the top plate on the springs.
http://www.petroworks.com/ Look under the suspension products.

Has anybody been running this type of setup? if so how do they work.

Get a couple of the cheap "bee hive" bump stops from you local jeep store.

If your ubolts stick up far enough above the nuts so that you can fit on another nut, you don't need to weld.

Get four extra nuts that will fit your ubolts, two pieces of plate about the size of your spring pads.

Drill holes in the corners so the plate will drop over the ends of the ubolts. Drill a hole in the center of the plate for the bee hive.  Mount the bee hive. Set the plate over your ubolts, tighten it down with two nuts. If the bump stop is too tall, saw it off. Too short (like mine) add a piece of 1x1 steel between the plate and the beehive.

If you weld, drill a hole in some 1x1 square tubing for the beehive. weld the tubing to your spring pad.

This is the direction I'm heading. I left my u-bolts long purposely for this reason. Can't find any like you describe locally just mail order so I'm just going to use the stock front ones. We'll see how they work.
