if it is still taking 2 pumps there may either be air in the lines or one of the lines is expanding  :o

sometimes bleeding takes 2 mins and sometimes it takes what seems like foreever to get just right...sry i cant help much

but it probably isnt anything major just something small..hopefully =)

i fitted rear discs to my zook and the calipers are mounted at an angle,(the fronts sit at the top).so when you bleed the rears you need to unbolt the caliper and sit it so the nipple is at the top.you need a spacer to fit between the pads about the same thickness as a disc while you bleed it then rebolt the calipers. ;)
god must love crazy people,he made so many of them!!!

Did you bench bleed the MC?

It'd probably be worth bleeding them again to see if more air comes out.

Some times the proportioning valve will hold air (had the same problem when I changed all my axles, brakes, master cylinder over on MZ) lots of bleeding will usually cure the problem. If your proportioning valve has a bleeder nipple on it all the better.      MUTANT ZUK

Adjust the rear shoes, they are too loose,
that will fix you right up  ;)

The easiest way is to remove the drum,
now there is the little cam thing that makes a zip
sound, that is the adjuster, and it's supposed to
adjust when you use the parking brake, but with new
shoes, it never adjusts right, now open the shoes a little
at a time until the drum is snug slipping over the shoes,
that should be close enough so they stay in adjustment
when you use the P brake

Good Luck

i have a prob like all yours with mine.  my pedal will almost go down to the floor before it has any brakes.  after that it still isn't a full brake pedal.

While you have the drums off, clean and oil the threads in the adjuster. If they rust (they usually do) the auto adjuster won't work properly. It's supposed to ratchet up a notch each time you back up & brake firmly. If it's working properly, you should be able to rock forward/backwards a couple dozen times to adjust them up.

On some cars folks drill a small (3/8 to 1/4") hole behind the adjuster and plug it w/ a rubber plug. Then you can use a small screwdriver to adjust the rear brakes... ala the "good ole days."

After you put the drum back on, press the pedal a couple times to center the shoes, then adjust again. That'll get 'em adjusted properly the first time around.

My parking brake cables were frozen up so I took them off. Will this mess up my brakes so they won't adjust?
If so, is it a big deal or can they be done manually?

The cables shouldn't affect the adjustment of your brakes.

BTW, there were some Kicks that were recalled for brakes. (There was a weld on the axle, or something like that, that had to be ground down.) I received paperwork on that for my '94. I think they said it caused the brakes to not adjust properly. (When I took it in, the dealer couldn't find the recall order, so didn't check it.)
