loss of power
« on: September 18, 2005, 07:06:18 AM »
Hi,

My sammy has lost alot of power especially at low revs, even when you put your foot to the floor, in second it feels like its in forth,

any ideas of what this could be?

fuel line block?

also its ticking over at about 300-400 revs!

Ideas please?  thanks

pull your valve cover and look for loose and or missing pieces. valve adjustment stuff.

Check all the basics. Wet, oily or black plugs, plug wires jumping spark, bad timing, loose carb, fuel flow, air cleaner.   Do you have a Webber ? The Webber mounting plate screws are notorious for coming loose. Does the tail pipe sound like its sputtering. If all that checks adjust the valves.

Worst case...blown head gasket. Oil in water / water in oil, but would probably also run hot if thats the case.

Right, i have looked again, and the wheel that the fan belt goes around that come out of the timing belt cover, seems to be bukled, it feels tight but then that could be the tightness of the belt holding it tight.

not sure what to do, i havent be able to get to the garage yet, seems like the only option thou
