Wheel Spacers?
« on: August 27, 2010, 02:40:56 PM »
Has anyone had bad luck with wheel spacers?  I recently put 2" aluminum wheel spacers on my sami and the shop that installed them told me that I would break them and not to install them.  Has anyone on here broken a wheel spacer before, or should I have to worry about this?

Thanks,
Brett

If the spacers you are talking about have there own wheel studs & nuts I wouldn't worry. We beat on our suzuki's & all have them. Spaces can be made "hub centric". These spacers are designed to carry the load on the body of the spacer not the studs. The biggest problem is more with the installer not getting them tight. Much like body lifts you will hear storys of how bad they are. Yes body lifts & wheel spacers can become one more area you have to maintain/check. I have had both for the last 15 plus yrs. in several vehs. as well as most of the people I off road with. No problems. As with any mods. don't get them any bigger than you have to. 1"-1.25"  is the max. we run.
