Front Strut Mount? Flip IT?
« on: August 26, 2007, 08:15:49 PM »

Will flipping the front strut mount give anuff clearance to compensate for coil spacers, and how hard is it to do? On a 1996 sidekick. Please give some feed back.

Ya with coil spacers it's cool to flip the strut mounts. This will compensate for the loss of down travel due to installing the spacers.
It's not hard to do at all... Use an impact to take the large nut off the top of the strut and remove the 3 nuts holding the mount to the strut tower. Knock out the 3 press in studs and replace with similar size grade 8 nuts and bolts and re-assemble.
Sound Simple?

The strut mount flip will give around 3/4" more down travel. It will help if have spacers but won't restore all the lost travel.

As I recall, the Calmini lift kit comes with a header flange (for aftermarket V8 headers) as a spacer when you flip it.  Don;t remember ever touching any pressed in anything.  Just take one to a local speed shop and buy two spacers.

The studs are pressed in. I knocked mine out but it distorted the flange quite badly. I knocked it flat  but if I did it again I would drill them out.
