well I dont know about running it in a sammy, but I run a auto in my tracker with 31x10.5's and a rear mini spool with alot of daily driving.  I upgraded from the 4.62 gearing in the diff to the 5.12's because it was alittle weak around 65mph but with the 5.12's it was like running a stock tracker.

I would think a auto would be ok in a sammy as long as you upgraded the 3.73's in the diffs.  I have been thinking of moving 1.6, and auto into my sammy as well.

I've ran an auto in my 4-door kick, and it was sweeeet going through the Rubicon. I'm going to be pullling it, and putting it in my Sami now. Can't wait to wheel with it in a light weight vehicle.

SOunds like I should be OK. I am runnning the 1.6 engine with 6:5-1 T-case and 5:38"s in narrowed dana 44 axles. I've got ARB's front and rear and 36" Super swamper TSL SX tires on beadlocks. I am used to running an auto when I had an early Bronco so I'd thought I would try it in my Sammy. Thanks for the input so far guys. 8)

Don't forget that depending on the auto you need a computer to run it.  Volvo has a 4 speed that is all mechanical though.

I guess I should mention that the tranny is coming out of a 2wd unit so I was going to keep it a divorced t-case.

That's the easy way to do it.
