Okay so I have been looking into putting coils on my Samurai.  I am curious as to how the coils stay in place I can't see how it stays on if you flex too much could the spring fall out? Or is it attached to the axle?  I have been drawing up some plans for it but the spring mounting I am at a loss as to how to do it. Any ideas or pics as to how they do this?

The ones in my IFS sit in a cup under tension. I believe RRO has a coil setup & pics. Maybe you can find some stuff there?

Ya I looked there but couldn't see it in very much detail I guess i could use some tube that would fit inside or outside of the spring loosely any other thoughts?

If you look into the way the early Ford Broncos were made, there is a clamp at the axle that holds the spring. As long as you limit your travel to the point where the springs always have some tension, you should be fine. I recently made some 2" spring spacers for my Sidekick, and I made them so that they captured the springs on the outside. In the back I used 91 Crown Vic shocks, and at full extension the spring will move slightly, but it will not come out. I don't have a pic yet, but I am working on it.

hillbillydave how did you make your spring spacers? im wanting 2" spacers for my wifes tracker and im building 2" bodylift blocks ti fit her some 31"s

Been doing sone more drawings and it looks like it will bind up in the front with the setup I have been looking at looks like it would bind up when i flex.  Would using heim joints instead of bushings help eliminate binding I'll be using johnny joints too.
