looking for something fairly aggressive in a 235 - 31 inch x 15 for my kick, anyone in manitoba or northdakota near the border?

Super Swamper makes a nice 31" tire that's pretty aggressive.

Super Swamper LTB and the Super Swamper TSL are both good tires i have used in the past. Not real expensive either.

I bought some 235 Destiny M/T's from Pep Boys about a year ago. $300 plus mounting,....you actually pay $100 per tire ($400) but you get a rebate - buy 3 get one free. Every now and then they run this special. They hold up well.

There's a HUGE difference between 29" and 31" tires in:
* Ride quality
* Rolling resistance over obsticles
* Gas mileage
* Power
* Slow crawl speed
* Suspension & backspacing needs
* Survivability of drivetrain
* Emergency breaking distances

Think about the terrain you'll be going over, how often, and how hardcore you want to get. These variables will dictate tire size, tread pattern, construction & compound - which dictates everything else (suspension etc). I'm a HUGE advocate of 29" tires & locker in the diff(s). But, that's just me  ::) With 29" tires, you may not need a lift at all - with 31" go with spring spacer kit (Jeff's kit has had good reviews, and is unbeatable in price...)

i am the guy from canada that bought the masterkit1 that we were discussing on another form about lifts, my kick is so rusty in the floor pans that i decided to just do the 2 inch s/l and go with 31s on ford 8 inch rallys, was wondering what would work best for tire size, will be running roads 50% and river running/mudding 50%, maybe 235-29s would keep the power at a better level?

Lockers (spool, lockrite, ARB...) are by far the most important thing in mud & water. Anything with low levels of traction - a locker is magic goodness.

With mud & water, having that extra clearance from a 31" tire might do you some good (though 29" locked will be far superior to 31" open diff if money is an issue). Mud is more about wheel speed than anything (fast enough to clear the mud out of the tread, but slow enough to not sit & dig a hole). My Dakota M/T's (Made by Cooper) have not let me down in the mud yet. The Swamper LTB's are fantastic in mud too. LTB will probably be better in mud (Can't say for sure - every time I've gone head to head against LTB, neither of us got stuck), the Dakota will for sure be more street-friendly. Cooper & BFG M/T tires are fantastic, but they come with a $$$ price tag. Suzuki's are so light and lacking in power, we don't have the (lack of) longevity problems people in heavier rigs do (trucks, Jeeps etc), so the more wallet-friendly Swampers are pretty popular under our rigs.

I honestly don't know much about water crossings - other than they've also been no problem for the Dakota's:
