what to look for when putting my tracker back on the road
« on: May 02, 2008, 06:48:11 PM »
Hello my Tracker has been off the road since january of this year. i am going to put it back on the road next week and was wondering what could have gone bad. it is sitting in the woods and every couple of weeks I,d start it up and drive it up and down the driveway.

Sitting since Jan? Make sure it has insurance and go for it. My Sami sits for longer than that at times and other than the weber being dry it starts right up.

I'd give it an oil change but really it should be fine. You might need a new battery if it hasn't been kept charged.

Toss some FI cleaner into the gas tank and clean the intake parts. Might just be a dirty intake.

yep thats what i did the fi cleaner stopped it from stalling and i took off the intake tube and cleaned on the otherside of the flapp throttle bodie whatever its called started it up and it ideled at 1500rpm it was getting late so i drove it home but it was not consistant stop to stop it would idel at either 1200 or 1500. (it was doing this before i did anything just it was at 800 and dropped to 600 on other times).ok i got it home went inside called my dad see if he can help so before i messed with it again i started it up and it ideled at a perfect 800 i was like great. i wanted to make sure i was'nt imaging this so i shut it off and turned it back on and it was back to ideling at 1200 then i gave it some gas and it ideled back up to 1500. F*** Today at school i adjusted the throttle cabel at the throttel bodie and was able to lower it, so know it idels at 1200 or 800. i dont know why the idel is inconsistant but at least i got it to where it's not going to stall.

Im sure she knows it i put some fresh fluid in her rear end and gave her some new pads
I still got to change the t case fluid, timing belt and water pump and then hopefully I'll be set

ya diff fluid that is 13 years old with 176000miles smells really bad
