Removing Stock Bumpers [ TRACKICK ]

Hello. I am wondering what is involved in removing the front and back factory bumpers on the Trackick, also how difficult it is. I am guessing that once you remove them the machine is still drivable?

4-6 bolts for the front and a few more for the back.  Takes about 45 seconds each with an air tool. 

Yes, you can drive without them, but be careful as you're really exposing yourself at that point.

Crikeymike is right,

its really easy to do, I had a buddy with me to hold it as thing started to get loose. I used basic hand toolds, there are a few bolts as I remember under the platic that took a minute to find, but were easy to remove

Do you have to remove the entire bumper or can you just take the bumber covers off?

You can just remove the covers to expose the bumper if you wish.

So I guess it would look similar to the Jeep YJ that has no covers? I think it would be neat and you could keep the machine cleaner and better prevent rust. Is it common to find the bumpers rusting after removing them?

How long to remove just the covers [ front and rear ] ?

only took me a couple minutes to remove my front and back bumper covers couple bolts and they are off

It won't look as good as a Wrangler, but it will help with offroad approach and departure angles.

mine had one sheet metal screw holding the drivers side on and one bolt on the passenger side.  took all of two minutes once we figured out that's all there was.   :o

With the front skin removed would it be strong enough to flat tow from?

i removed my covers and painted them with hippo liner to make it look like they were supposed to be that way, looks alright.  takes little time to pull covers off.  when i'm finished this weeks little project i'll post a couple pics.

no, you couldn't tow from the stock front bumper.  it uses very small bolts for mounting, and it's just stamped steel, not very strong
