Suzuki Sidekick theft protection problems
« on: September 02, 2022, 02:10:57 PM »
I beleive I'm supposed to push the left hand button 2 or 3 times to disable the theft protection. It isn't working. Is there any way to disable that altogether so the Sidekick Starts? Otherwise I'm looking at a tow for electrical help which may be a relatively obscure problem.

Push what button on what?  I've never seen a Sidekick with factory fitted "theft protection", so I'm suspecting that what you have is after market, and if I'm right you'll have to give us more details before we can assist, that is, assuming we can assist.

I was waiting for an email notification that my question had been answered. Anyway...According to the previous owner I needed to press this switch 3 times to enable starting. It work for awhile, now it doesn't. It used to display a little red light, now it doesn't. I wonder if I attached the blue wire to the black if that would enable the system? This item is perhaps attached to its own fuse but I can't locate the fuse box. I couldn't see one underneath the dash.

Have a look at this thread, specifically post #10, the black/red stripe wires he jumpered together are the wires between the ignition switch and the NSS so that is how they are disabling the starter.

Thanks. Very hekpful, When #10 says " i was able to pull the connectors off and bypass it without having to do anything" does he mean just to remove the connectors and that is the actual bypass solution?

I think he's talking about the connectors to the control box, not the switch, and the bypass solution would be the jumper wire.
