This install will work for the two door tintop and four door sidekick and tracker models and possibly the samurai tintop.
Parts come from 1997 Isuzu Rodeo. This will allow you to mount 4x6 speakers up and out of the way.
Removal from the Rodeo:
(1) What your after is the sound bar from the rear of the vehicle that is mounted to the roof.
(2) The speaker covers snap off and there are two 10mm bolts on each speaker.
(3) Remove the bolts and slide the speaker left or right and remove.
(4) There is a connector for the speaker harness attached to the top of each speaker pod. Give yourself at least 8 inches of wire coming off the speaker after the plug.
(5) Remove the three 10mm bolts from the brackets; remove brackets.
(6) If you want to take the time to remove the headliner you can. If your short on time and the headliner is bad anyways then just pull the headliner down from the rear to access the mounting bar.
(7) The mounting bar has four 10mm bolts on each side.
**The front inside drivers and passenger side mirror covers have little tweeters mounted to the back of them. Just pull the covers off. They come off just like the tracker or sidekicks. **
So once everything is removed from the Rodeo this is what you should have.
Install into the tracker or sidekick:
(1) Remove the headliner. You will have to pull all side and plastic trim panels along the roof line. Pull the grab handles, visors, rear view mirror, and dome light. (you may have to replace some of the plastic inserts)
(2) Remove the speakers and speaker brackets from the mounting bracket.
(3) The bracket itself is to long and must be cut in half. There is no need to shorten the mounting bracket. You will now be mounting each side separately but make sure they line up. Once both sides are mounted you can simply screw or rivet the two halves together.
(4) You will have to manipulate each mounting point to be able to line up to the roof ridge. Each mount will be riveted to the side and back of the roof ridge. Drill your holes and mount each side.
**you can use metal screws but I found rivets worked much better.**
(5) Once both sides are mounted rivet the two halves together.
**you want to get the mount tucked up as high as possible. You can insert a thin piece of weather stripping between the roof and mount.**
(6) Install the headliner starting in the front. You will want the rear to be loose for now so you can eyeball where the mounting holes are for the speaker bracket.
**It is only necessary to cut the headliner around the mounting holes for the speaker bracket. I learned this only after hacking up the first speaker bracket hole.**
(7) Intall the speaker bracket making sure to run the speaker wire up and through the headliner.
**If your ready to install speakers run your speaker wire now before mounting the speaker brackets.**
(8.) Once the speaker brackets are mounted reinstall the speaker pods.
(9) Finish installing headliner and all trim.
