Cv shaft troubles again.....
« on: April 16, 2005, 12:37:39 PM »
Well put in my other cv shaft today, The drivers side shaft. and It basically was over extended as soon as I put it in. So i had to loosen the bolts just to put the snap ring in. I guess I'll just get a spacer machined or something. Is that what everyone else is doing. I don't know why this is happening all the time now. And I wheeled with the stock one in there for a year.

I'm thinking that it should fix your problem but i don't know your truck? is it lifted or did you just put it in a ditch or hit a stump?

You're running the 2 inch Calmini lift, which drops the diff, right?  You should NOT need a longer CV axle!

I would suspect that something else has caused the problem.

Here you can see how badly the cv shaft was over extended just sitting there.

Which resulted in this after wheelin.

Had the exact same problem. A large part of the reason I've got a set of 'Cruiser axles sitting in the garage to go under the Tracker ;)

Give us some details on how you front end is lifted. It appears to be tha Calmini 2" suspension lift, with the diff drop brackets in place. Unless it was a screwed up rebuild on the CV, or you have modified the front end or lift, that should not happen. :-/

Are you saying that you put a spacer in on top of the larger front coil springs I sent you?
