conversion plate for swapin a 1.6L in sammy

hi everyone!
got a 1.6L to swap in my sammy (88 with 1.3L carb),lookin to buy the adapter plate kit.to many choice and everyone claim theirs its the best! wich one is the best? is their some i should avoid? is it true some need a body lift to clear things? to me the one from petroworks seem like the best one. anyone has life true and tested opinion? thanks

It isn't necessary to do a bodylift. The issue is the extra height of the 1.6 block and the TBI/carb fouling on the hood. A bonnet bulge sorts this out without any detrimental effect on the C of G. Is the one from Petroworks the one with the trick looking mounts? I liked the look of that but never got a reply to my email.
It is possible to fit the 1.6 without using the adpter kit, you just need to drill and tap a couple of holes.

I have the petro works in mine with the first generation motor mounts, they are the soft ones that I like alot, not sure what they have for that now, the mounts move the engine and trans down and the engine to the passinger side about an inch or so for headder clearence, been running it for about four years with a 16 valve and only went though one rubber mount in the front that I changed myself for like twenty bucks and a 100 ton press LOL,the trail tough is good also but you need to put a small body lift in the front only about the thickness of your finger.

ok so...if i can get away with the drilling and taping i could handle this one with a little more info and specs   anybody out there who did it,and maybe have some pic about it?

Heres one without the adapter It shows where they drilled and welded, Its not the prettiest but it looks like it would work. I was gonna try it but I just bought an adapter. Hope it helps
