Before I go and remove this bit, can anyone explain what purpose this might have served????  It's an inline water-cooled ring between the valve cover and the TBI (PCV breather tube)

There's lots of heater hoses running around. Usually it's to warm things up quickly, so the "cold start" issue is shorter. I tend to leave those things in place, but keep spare line with me (as I've sprung a leak before). Your choice: remove it and don't worry about it, but have shorter engine life (how much? I don't know) or keep it, and replace hose as needed... or just replace all your hoses... which is what I do piece by piece during oil changes.

One thing is for sure:  If that part is on a Samurai, Tracker or Sidekick, it's most likely an aftermarket part.  That being the case, it should not be a problem to remove it.

Of course the above assumes that you are in the United States.

I cannot tell because you did not fill out your personal profile - something that can be very helpful.  Unfortunately, lots of folks think that somehow, their lives will be messed up by hackers, spam and telemarketers if they post any information in their profile.

Rest assured that this will not happen on the major Zukin' forums.  Forum Administrators all know that the user profile plays a BIG role in the helpfulness and friendliness of thses forums.  Administrators don't DARE sell or give out any of the profile information - even if they could figure out how to do it!  ;D

So FILL OUT THAT PROFILE!

Cordially,
Ack
