offset question
« on: December 27, 2008, 09:49:27 AM »
Can someone explain to me about offset wheels... I don't  know anything about them?!   I would like to get some black steel rims that stick out 2" farther than factory wheels. but have no idea what kinda offset that would be..  Huh
Thanks
James

to find the back space of a wheel lay it face down put a strait edge then get ruler and get a reading from mounting flange to the strait edge   then just ask for rimes with 2" less back space

Offset and backspace are two different, but equivalent ways of specifying how a wheel mounts.  Offset is measured from the wheel centerline and can be positive or negative.  Backspace is measured from the innermost edge of the wheel rim.

See:  http://www.zukikrawlers.com/showthread.php?t=20928  for a nice diagram from quebecsamurai.
Also, see:  http://www.rsracing.com/tech-wheel.html  for a useful chart.
