Hi,
I am stummped trying to put the horn wires back together in my 87 Sammy because the previous owner cut the wires for some reason?

Here is what I have found so far:

-When pushing the horn button, contact is made to a blue/green wire that runs down the steering column.  For some reason when I do a continuity check by touching the horn tabs nothing happens.  Could these just be dirty?  The continuity check works fine if I touch the actual wire where it connects to the steering whee...l

-I seem to have two cut wires coming through the firewall from the engine compartment.  These seem to be connected to some sort of relay mounted just inside the engine compartment on the driver's side top corner.  There is also a ground attached to that relay and a blue/white wire that runs to the passenger side but has also been cut just after an inline fuse.

-I am still not sure what wire supplys the horn with power, haven't found that one yet?

Any thoughts or help would be awesome!

According to a carbed Wiring diagram (pretty universal)  the horn button is Blue/Green and goes to the horn relay.  The White wire at the relay is connected to a fused source of 12VDC.

The White/Green wire goes to the horn itself and the Black wire on the horn goes to chassis ground to complete the circuit. 

You can check the continuity of the horn button segment by connecting a Volt-Ohm Meter (VOM) from the Blue/Green wire at the relay and ground, setting the meter to Ohms (and "beep" if the meter has this feature) and then pressing the horn button.  you should read 0 ohms (or hear a beep) if the horn is working.  You can pop the center of the steering wheel to visually check the condition of the horn button assembly.

To test for votage to the relay, set the meter to DC, and measure from the White wire at the horn relay to ground for 12 Volts DC.

Dumb thought but does the horn work?

Just asking as 3/5 Suzuki's I've owned have had non-functioning horns due to their exposed location and seemingly low build quality (of the horns).

I have several dead horn uints laying about.... 

I was recently shocked when the FACTORY ORIGINAL horn on my '90 parts rig with 170k on the clock turned out to be good.  It spent it's entire life in Michigan too.
