About 2 months ago I picked up a 91 4 door sidekick for the wife. Well the other day I took it out for a drive just to make sure all was working good with it, and when I put the brakes on the pedal hit the floor. To make a long story short the outer left front brake pad fell out allowing the piston in the caliper to pop out when I was pumping the brakes. Has anybody else ran into the problem of the pads falling out?

I've not had this problem myself but I have heard of it happening on Sammys. Are the caliper sliders moving freely? Are the discs badly worn and are they the correct pads. Do you have the vented discs fitted?

Every thing seems to be correct at a quick glance. I take a good look at it when I get home from holidays

Did the pad itself fall out or did the friction material seperate from the backing! I have seen that alot also!

That is what I think happened, the bonded pad fell off the metal backing, by the time I got it stopped and took it apart the metal was gone as well.

When I got my TracKick I some brake issues. When I checked prices on all the components I was shocked at how cheap it was to replace everything. So that's what I did. New calipers, rotors, and pads. I think the whole lot cost me about $125.

The beauty of it was how easily I gravity bled the new calipers. I just let it drip a few seconds and, voila! Done.

I highly recommend this route. Then you know everything is good (at least if YOU did it correctly!)

That's the plan Since we live in the mountains I figure new brakes are a GREAT idea, plus the wife drives this to and from work so I don't want her having any brake problems. As far as doing it correctly I'm a licenced mechanic so I think I got this one covered...lol
